Zeta Day 2006
ZETA TAU ALPHA
"Love..the Greatest Of All Things"
Annapolis Alumnae Chapter

April 28, 2006                                             Sarah Glaser, Annapolis ZTA Historian Reporter

The Annapolis Alumnae Chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha held Zeta Day 2006 on April 8 at the
Ramada Inn’s Key West Conference Center in Hanover, Md. Close to 250 ZTA alumnae
and collegians from across the state braved the pouring rain to participate in the event.

The extravaganza and brunch began with registration at 8:30 a.m. along with a service
project of beading bracelets with pink and white beads and a sweet charm of a heart or
Hawaiian flip flop with the pink ribbon to give to cancer survivors.  Tables were set up in
the foyer for Zetas to $hop for ZTA merchandise, Silpada Designs sterling silver jewelry,
tickets for numerous auction baskets that were raffled off during the event, and our Spring
Line table which allowed collegians and alumnae both to give well wishes to their sisters by
purchasing either a dress or purse cut out to add a message to and hang on the clothes
line for all to view.

Coleen Ryder, District President, started off the brunch by introducing the keynote
speaker, Kim Knight Rice, our Vice President Alumnae - Area I.  She spoke of how Zeta
Tau Alpha truly spans a lifetime and what it means to continue to be apart of the sorority
long after one has left college.  Mrs. Rice gave a wonderful speech along with getting
everyone to play some fun games by finding out whom had certain items in their purses
such as their ZTA Lifetime Card and handing out prizes for those who could get to her the
fastest.  She also recognized that Zeta Tau Alpha has donated over $1.6 million to the
Race for the Cure.  The Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation has given more than $208,000 for
post graduate and graduate scholarships and $100,000 to Zetas affected by the
hurricanes last year.

The Order of the Shield Recognition Service was next.  Helen Elizabeth Monroe Just was
honored for 75 years of membership in ZTA.  She was presented with the White Violet pin
and her certificate of recognition.  She was so delighted and told all of us how proud she
was for such an honor.  It was truly a touching moment.

Erinn McGuire, who is a special events planner in addition to being a reporter for Mix 106.5
FM, was our guest speaker.  She gave an enlightening presentation and PowerPoint
presentation on dressing for success.  She had great photos to show us all what was
appropriate for work and what to save for weekends.  She even had great pointers on what
exactly is meant by casual Friday and gave plenty of guidance on how to find looks for
less.  Her main point was to talk about our appearance and know what message we are
sending out by choosing certain outfits.  She recommends not wearing outfits to work that
you would wear out with friends or a date.  She is adamant about ironing your clothes and
always dressing for the job you want, not the job you have.

After hearing our eloquent speakers and having a nice brunch, the award presentation
and more prize giveaways began!  The list of awards and their recipients are as follows:
